The Wallace State baseball program, which has former players succeeding in the major leagues, continues to be a force in the state and on the national level under National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Hall of Fame head coach Randy Putman. During his 33 seasons, Putman has recorded 32 winning campaigns, missing the postseason only once. Two postseasons were cut short for the program because of the 2011 tornadoes and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
