Peyton Watson, a consensus top 25 prospect in the 2021 college basketball recruiting class, committed to UCLA on Monday.
Watson is a 6-7 shooting guard from nearby Long Beach Polytechnic High School, where he averaged 23.5 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists last season.
Watson wrote on social media that he's "trying to shift the culture" in Westwood. He told ESPN that he saw UCLA as the "original blue blood" and his "goal is to lead UCLA to a national championship."
Watson took official visits to Gonzaga, Washington and Arizona and went to UCLA multiple times unofficially for games.
"I'm a huge family guy," Watson said. "It means a lot to me that my family will be able to come to the games."
