This has been another big week in high school basketball as Brewster picked up a high level transfer, IMG lost a top 10 recruit, and another top recruit reclassified.
Marvel Allen - Highly thought of rising sophomore Marvel Allen is transferring from Wellington to Calvary Christian. Allen is a big guard, already around 6’4” and is expected to keep growing. If Allen keeps developing he could play every position between the 1-3. Marvel Allen will team up with top 50 rising junior Gregg Glenn. Even though Allen is only a sophomore he should make a big impact for Calvary Christian. The Eagles should be very, very good next year.
Shane Dezonie - Shane Dezoine is transferring to Brewster Academy from Huntington Prep. Dezonie will pair with Devin Carter, Yann Farrell, Zaire Wade, Carter Whitt and Micawber Etienne. It looks like Dezonie will have to play some power forward on this guard heavy team. Dezonie is a very good two way player as he is productive on both offense and defense. Brewster should be good once again next year.
Brandon Huntley-Hatfield - Brandon Huntely-Hatfield will transfer to Scotland Campus in Pennsylvania. Last season Huntley-Hatfield played at IMG as a sophomore. As good as any player might be, touches at IMG are limited because of how much talent there is at IMG. I think this was the right move for Huntley-Hatfield because he will get a lot of touches and because Scotland coach Chris Channey has coached a lot of talent throughout his career.Hopefully Huntley-Hatfield can tune his game and take the next step in his career.
Caleb Houstan - One of the top players in high school basketball, Caleb Houstan will reclassify from 2022 into the 2021 class. This sharpshooter is one of the best shooters in high school basketball and should be one of the best players on a good Montverde team. Arizona, Duke, Gonzaga and Oregon are considered the favorites to land Houstan according to 247Sports. Houstan will be one of the most prized recruits in the country.
Trey Pettigrew - Trey Pettigrew is transferring to Hillcrest Prep next year, leaving Fenwick High School behind. The Bruins lost a lot of talent this year but in addition to gaining Pettigrew they also return superstar Michael Foster. This is not only a solid gain for the Bruins but a bigger loss for Fenwick, who was expecting a big season with Pettigrew and Bryce Hopkins. Pettigrew is a comboguard from Illinois who currently holds offers from Illinois, Nebraska and Penn State.
